School of Quintessence acts as a breathing community that has come together based on shared ideologies of how to meet the children and peoples of today.

We act in a space of “sister schools,” which function as a flat, non-hierarchical structure. In this way, educators work hand-in-hand with the parent collective as an educational partnership. Together, we foster an educational experience that is aligned with shared agreements between teachers and families.

Purposeful growth of the whole being

Our community’s approach is rooted in whole-child practices including the integration of intellectual, artistic, and experiential learning while nurturing the spiritual and ethical development of each child. We recognize that education is not merely about acquiring knowledge but is also about guiding and supporting the unfolding of each child’s individuality as they grow with purpose and awareness.

Each child arrives with unique gifts, and deep purpose seeking expression. School of Quintessence serves to support this unfolding by helping the child integrate their willing, feeling, and thinking into a harmonious whole. By providing opportunities for them to engage with the world consciously and meaningfully, we prepare the children of today for the future.

Serving the four-fold human being

At the School of Quintessence, we recognize that human development unfolds in layers—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and that each stage requires thoughtful care and timing. We understand that education is not simply the transfer of knowledge, but the nurturing of the whole human being. Through intentional rhythms, meaningful work, artistic expression, and deep relationship, we create space for children to grow into independent adults facing the future with strength, balance, and purpose.

The willing life

Children in early childhood are in their willing life. Experience is focused through imaginative play and movement to nurture a sense of security in the physical world.

The feeling life

The elementary years focus on the feeling life for children. At this time, we prioritize artistic, musical, and experiential learning to strengthen the emotional and imaginative life.

The thinking life

Adolescence fosters their thinking life. At this stage, we focus on developing independent thinking, self-reflection, and moral discernment, preparing young adults to take their place in the world with confidence and integrity.

Modes of learning

Specialized curricula

Our main lesson structure allows students to immerse themselves in each subject, strengthening both comprehension and inner development. Main lesson blocks are presented in accordance with the child’s natural development. The appropriate lessons provided at the right time provide a pathway for deep understanding of themselves and the greater world.

Deepening self-awareness

By engaging with nature, history, and cultural relevance, students develop a reverence for life and a deepening self-awareness. Seasonal festivals, storytelling, artistic expression and life experience help cultivate an inner connection to the rhythms of nature, the wisdom of the past, and the greater mysteries of existence.

Resilience in an interconnected world

Our method ultimately seeks to educate the whole human being—willing, feeling, and thinking. By integrating these elements, this educational approach prepares students to succeed academically and become thoughtful, compassionate, engaged and resilient human beings living in our diverse and interconnected world.
