Living into the
seasonal rhythms

At the School of Quintessence, we deeply honor our interconnectedness—both in the rhythms of daily life and the greater cosmic dance of the year. These community-centered celebrations support the natural rhythm of the seasons while nurturing the unfolding and enlivening of archetypes within each of us, bringing deep connection to ourselves, one another, and the world.

As a living and evolving community, we thoughtfully shape these gatherings each year during our summer planning, ensuring they remain meaningful, relevant, and nourishing for all.

Annual Rhythmical Gatherings

  • Fall Corn Moon and Festival of Courage: Fall Equinox

  • Martinmas: Festival of Light and Lantern Walk

  • Winter Solstice and Spiral Walk

  • Spring Flower Moon: Maypole and Spring Equinox

Flower Moon Festival

As the Flower Moon rises, the quiet magic of spring awakens—gnomes, fairies, and elementals begin their joyful work of weaving beauty into the world. In this spirit, the School of Quintessence community gathers to celebrate creativity, connection, and the vibrant energy of the season.

Our annual Flower Moon Festival, also known as Mayday, is a joyful gathering for families and friends. A shared potluck lunch brings connection and nourishment, while our scholars take the stage to share their gifts through song, dance, and circus performance. These springtime presentations offer a glimpse into the joy and growth cultivated throughout the year.

The Maypole stands as a centerpiece of unity, inviting everyone to join in the dance. Children can craft flower crowns, explore the mud kitchen, and delight in a day filled with wonder. It’s a celebration of life in bloom—and of the creativity and spirit that live within our community.

Corn Moon Festival of Courage

Michaelmas, or the Corn Moon Festival of Courage, is a festival of inner strength and our deep connection to the rhythms of the universe. Each year, our scholars bring to life the timeless story of Saint Michael and the dragon—a powerful tale of bravery.

Join us in cheering on Saint Michael, sharing in a bountiful feast, and celebrating with joyful activities for all ages. It is a day where we come together as a community to honor the light within that meets the challenges of the world with courage and heart.

Beaver Moon Festival of Light

Each year, our community gathers for a quiet evening of reflection and reverence, honoring the selfless light embodied by Saint Martin. It is also known as Martinmas.

In the gentle hush of the season, our newly knighted students renew their sacred oath, stepping forward as humble leaders. They guide us in a candlelit procession through a winding path of lanterns—an offering of light in the growing darkness, a reminder of the light we carry within, and an opportunity to shine brightly in community.
