The school

games

Honoring Waldorf traditions, our fifth and sixth graders bring history to life through the physical artistry of the Pentathlon and Arizona Medieval Games.

Fifth Grade Pentathlon

In the golden year of fifth grade, we explore ancient cultures ending in ancient Greece. The pinnacle of this ancient civilization and greek study is experienced in the pentathlon in which 5th graders from Waldorf school from all around Arizona come together to celebrate their learning through ancient greek, olympian inspired challenges and feats.

Arizona Medieval Games

The Arizona Medieval Games are a sixth-grade Waldorf rite of passage that brings the study of the Middle Ages to life. After completing a 100-day Squire’s Challenge centered on courage, character, and virtue, students join other Waldorf sixth graders from across Arizona for physical challenges, medieval traditions, reflection, and a culminating Knighting Ceremony.

A community of
experiential learning

School of Quintessence is more than a school—it’s a vibrant, connected community where learning and life come together. Educators, parents, students, alumni, and friends gather to support one another, share inspiration, and build something meaningful through curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.

Get involved

School of Quintessence relies on the generous support and collaboration of parents and community members. Through volunteer engagement, our students have access to unique and enriching programs.

Teach specialty classes

Share your cultural knowledge and skills with the School of Quintessence students. Volunteers have taught classes such as Filipino dance, African folklore, hip hop, and woodworking.

Support festival life

Support students in their developmental cycles by planning and attending festivals, the significant moments of gathering during the school year.

Join the collective

The curricular, social, and emotional development of students is rooted in supporting our teachers. Join our collective of parents and school leaders in the structuring and developing of school activities so our students can thrive.

Grown-ups are learners too

School of Quintessence is dedicated to the continued growth and learning of everyone—including our community of adults. Open to the public and taught by community members, we offer classes and events that feed and nurture all of us.

Community Outreach

We cultivate partnerships rooted in shared purpose, care, and a sense of deep interconnectedness. Our students are encouraged to reach beyond the bounds of our school, bringing their light into the wider world. Through these meaningful connections, they grow in confidence, compassion, and a rich understanding of themselves and others.
